CBD vs. CBG

The difference between cannabinoids

CBD (Cannabidiol) and CBG (Cannabigerol) are both naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the hemp and marijuana plant. CBD is one of the more prevalent cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, and most of the hemp cultivars available today are bred to produce high CBD potencies. As hemp cultivars are further developed, more and more high-CBG strains are entering the marketplace. Both CBD and CBG work on the endocannabinoid system by pairing with CB1 and CB2 receptors found throughout our bodies.

CBG is different from CBD in the sense that CBG is the mother of all cannabinoids. It is the precursor cannabinoid that breaks down into other primary and minor cannabinoids found in the hemp plant to include CBD. Each cannabinoid offers a range of different effects, but both work synergistically within the endocannabinoid system to achieve overall homeostasis.

FAQs

Are hemp-derived CBD and CBG products federally legal?

Yes! Under the federal hemp farm bill, hemp is deemed as legal and classified as hemp as long as it contains no more than 0.3% THC.

How do I know Northeast Hemp Commodities products contain no more than 0.3% THC?

In addition to our in-house QAQC, all production batches are third-party tested by certified labs to ensure the quality and integrity of our products. Before any product reaches the consumer, NEHC guarantees its hemp products contain no more than 0.3% THC.

What are the medicinal benefits of consuming CBD or CBG products?

Unfortunately, due to the FDA’s current lack of regulations or guidance on the hemp marketplace, we are unable to list or define any potential benefits of consuming CBD or CBG products. However, we highly recommend diving into the plethora of published studies and research available online!

*Always consult a physician before mixing or replacing CBD or CBG products with other medications.

Do CBD and CBG products cause intoxication?

CBD and CBG products are non-intoxicating and will not cause any “high” effect commonly associated with THC. Some full-spectrum hemp products do contain no more than 0.3% THC, but it is uncommon for any intoxicating effects to occur from such low THC levels. Nevertheless, every person reacts to hemp products differently and it is always best to start with lower dosages and work your way up.

How much am I supposed to take?

Hemp products affect every consumer differently. For this reason, it is always best to start with a low dosage and work up to a high dosage over time. Every one of our products has a recommended dosage for consumers to start at and adjust from there. Regardless, it is essential to consume CBD and CBG products on a daily basis to obtain the best results. It is similar to taking a vitamin a day!

What is the endocannabinoid system?

Every human has an endocannabinoid system that is made up of cannabinoid receptors found throughout our bodies. Both CB1 and CB2 receptors make up our endocannabinoid system and each cannabinoid works with these receptors in unique ways. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for maintaining the homeostasis of our bodily systems. In other words, it is responsible for keeping everything in balance.

For years, many consumers have been living with endocannabinoid deficiencies, which is why it takes consistent consumption to achieve the desired results from consuming hemp-derived products.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Under federal law, hemp is classified as a cannabis plant that contains no more than 0.3% THC. Any cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3% THC is technically classified as marijuana and illegal under federal law. Marijuana products are legal in states with recreational or medical marijuana legalization and must be produced and sold by licensed marijuana facilities. All of NEHC’s offerings are federally compliant, hemp-derived products.

Is Northeast Hemp Commodities and Method Organics the same company?

Yes, Northeast Hemp Commodities (NEHC) is the parent company of Method Organics. All of the hemp material and extracts used to formulate Method Organics products are grown and extracted by Northeast Hemp Commodities. We act as one synergistic unit which allows us to control the quality of our products from seed to sale.
